_Air bronchogram sign
_Air filled bronchi have such thin walls that they are not normally seen on CXRs. Visualization of the air within the intrapulmonary bronchi requires the surrounding lung parenchyma be airless or contain a markedly reduced amount of air,due to replacement of air by fluid, consolidation or atelectasis. The bronchus cannot be completely occluded at its origin. An air bronchogram cannot lie within a pleural or mediastinal lesion. Solid tumours & lung cysts do not contain air bronchograms because the bronchi in the region of these lesions are either occluded or displaced.
